Board of Aldermen

The board of the mayor and aldermen consists of a mayor and two aldermen.

The mayor is appointed by the Grand Duke and the aldermen are appointed by the Minister of the Interior, on the proposal of the majority of the municipal councillors.

The meetings of the college are not public. However, if necessary, the College may be assisted by experts during its meetings.

The main responsibilities of the College of Aldermen are as follows

• management of day-to-day business
• execution of laws, regulations and grand-ducal and ministerial decrees, insofar as they do not concern the police
• publication and execution of the resolutions and decisions of the municipal council,
• the legal actions of the municipality,
• supervision of communal services,
• management of communal works,
• administration of the communal domain,
• management of income and expenditure.
